sympathy prayers
Gathered together on this page are four short prayers to help with the loss of a loved one. The
first prayer is a blessing for saying or giving to a person who is currently carrying great grief in their heart. The second and third prayers are
short prayer condolence messages suitable for writing in cards to a friend or family member for their comfort. Also, further down this page are some
bible verses which reflect on God's presence and strength in the dark times in life, and a prayer for those whose
hearts are broken.
Sympathy prayer for loss of a loved one
(such as a father or mother)
May the Lord bless you and keep you in this time of sorrow, reminding you of treasured memories, and the gift of shared love. May he inspire you with the reflection of heaven in earth, from the seeds and flowers, to the mountains and springs. And may you feel the Lord with you, walking besides you in the loneliness, taking your hand in the hardest times and carrying you through the waters of grief. May you be safe and treasured in his hand.
Amen.

a prayer to help those suffering with grief and the loss of a precious one:-
"May you be safe and treasured in his hand"
Prayer to heal a broken heart
Heavenly Father,
I am broken, with my heart in pieces and my future dreams shattered. I crawl into your care, to hide beneath your mighty wings of love. Here I find a place to rest, a space of acceptance and submission.
I will dwell here, for as long as it takes, to find each small fragment of me. And I trust that you, my loving Father, can piece together the puzzle of my life. Lord, with your extraordinary patience and love, come and restore me.
So I rest here. I close my eyes and dwell with you.
"You're blessed when you feel you've lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you."
(Matthew 5:4, The Message)
"Even if I go through the deepest darkness,
I will not be afraid, Lord,
for you are with me.
Your shepherd's rod and staff protect me."
(Psalm 23:4, GNT)
"He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.
He determines the number of the stars
and calls them each by name.
Great is our Lord and mighty in power;
his understanding has no limit."
(Psalm 147:3-5, NIV)
