Short Night Prayer
I am so tired Father.
Help me to sleep now, restore my energy,
Cover my feelings and watch over my mind.
I rest in you tonight.

Prayer Before Sleep
(a rhyming prayer poem for bedtime)
Lord
You bless us as we rest
Restore us as we sleep
You care for us as we drift off
And make our dreaming sweet
You are the safest place
You are the God of Grace
Forgiven, loved and held by you
Is each small seed of faith
You know our thoughts and feelings
You see our deep desires
You understand our weariness
And catch each tear we cry
You walk beside us every day
You are a constant friend
You stay with us all through the night
On you we can depend
Cheeky Monkey TV is a great way of helping children learn about prayer. In this episode, we learn a simple prayer to say with our children at bedtime:-
Night Prayer for Protection
Father, thank you that you care for me. In this moment, I recall all the times when you have been faithful to me, for you are a rock beneath my feet and a secure fortress around me. Come guard my heart, protect my mind and cover my whole being with your love. I place all my trust in you.
Amen.
Prayer poet Julie Palmer explores three different ideas for praying at night, including how to start a prayer journal and what to do when it's hard to pray at bedtime:-
"It is useless to get up early
and stay up late
in order to earn a living.
God takes care of his own,
even while they sleep."
(Psalm 127:2, CEV)
In peace I will lie down and sleep,
for you alone, Lord,
make me dwell in safety.
(Psalm 4:8, NIV)
Night Time
(a prayer poem)
As the darkness draws in, you are the light in my heart
As the air turns colder, you are the warmth in my soul
As the stars are revealed, you renew my spirit
As the moon shines, I know I am held safe in your arms.
"I stretch myself out. I sleep. Then I'm up again-rested, tall and steady"
(Psalm 3:5, The Message)
Night Prayer
For every night there comes a morning
No matter how dark or cold I feel.
So I will rest here in your blessing
Safe in your arms, free from all fear.
For every sorrow there is a healing
No matter how empty or broken I feel.
So I will hide here within your shelter
Cherished and loved, warm and still.
