baby dedication prayer
Gathered together on this page are a series of prayers and blessings suitable for using in a church baby dedication ceremony. There is a beautiful prayer poem entitled "Little One So Full of Promise" for the parents to read, a blessing for the leader of the service to say over the baby boy or girl, and an example of a congregational prayer of commitment to care and look out for the child as part of the wider Christian family. There are also some famous quotes and blessings from the bible, and a short inspiring film featuring the ancient Irish prayer "May the Road Rise Up To Meet You".
a short baby dedication prayer
Father, thank you for this precious gift of new life. As we dedicate this precious baby to, we pray that you would watch over this dear child all the days of his/her life. Guide his/her footsteps. Inspire his/her mind. Anoint his/her hands and lead him/her into life eternal. For the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Little One So Full of Promise
(a parent’s prayer of thanks and dedication for their baby boy or girl)
Little one so full of promise
Cradled in the Father’s care,
May you know you’re loved and cherished
Lifted high in gentle prayer.
Little heart that beats with life
Held and blessed by the God of truth,
May you always feel the rhythm
Of Jesus walking close to you.
Little feet so soft and pure
Following the King of Kings,
May you grow to walk in goodness
Leading you to Kingdom things.
Little eyes, that search for comfort
Windows to a beautiful soul,
May you gaze to take in the wonder
Find the light that makes you whole.
Little lips, so sweet and tender
Smiling at the ones you love,
May you drink of grace filled water
Feast on melodies from above.
Little child, unique and precious
On this special blessing day,
May you always feel the presence
Of the God who holds you safe.
A blessing for a leader to say over the baby
Lord, thank you for this precious gift of life.
May you bless this little one.
As we lift them before you, our loving Father,
we ask for your protection, guidance and provision to be with them always.
May they grow with light in their hearts and beauty in their souls.
We ask all this in the wonderful name of Jesus,
Amen.

We pledge to pray for your peace and joy to reign in their homes, their relationships and their hearts.
Amen.

(Numbers 6:24-26, GNT)

Everything you do is marvelous!
Of this I have no doubt."
