Pregnancy is a time of great excitement, joy and anticipation, often mixed with apprehension and anxiety over giving birth and the difficulties involved in carrying another person for nine months! This page has three prayers to help expectant mothers. One is a short prayer for a pregnant mother to pray for her unborn baby boy or girl, the other prayer is for safe delivery during labor, and can be prayed by the father (or supporter) during childbirth. Further down on this page are several bible verses that remind us of God's protection during pregnancy and labor, and there is also a film with the ancient celtic blessing "May The Road Rise Up To Meet You" to send to expectant mums . There is also a short prayer you can pray for your unborn baby.
Dear God,
May you watch my sleep as I carry this baby.
May your hand be upon this little life as it develops in my womb.
May you fill our hearts with joy, and our bodies with peace.
May we feel you so close to us as we sense your amazing creativity at work.
We rest in you.
Amen.
Almighty God,
Send your angels to keep guard as labour begins, Lord comfort and protect us all.
Surround us with your hope and goodness.
Hold us through each wave of delivery.
Give to us a perfect life.
Come hold us safely within your promises, now and forever.
